Gryphon's Aerie

Thinking . . . trying not to fry the circuits

About

About the Gryphon

018I opened this blog in early November of last year.  Originally I just put a place holder on this page with the intent to give it justice later.  Two months elapsed and I was getting next to no hits and absolutely no comments so I let it slide.

Lately though I have been getting many more hits and a few comments.  One (at least) other bloggers here at WordPress have linked me in their Blogroll, and I have linked three.  I recommend that you visit their blogs.  They are listed under “Word Press Blogs I Like.”  Anyway, I felt it time to give this page more attention, especially as the page itself is getting more hits.

I have used “Gryphon” as a username–”handle”– since I first started using the Internet for chats back in the early 90s.  It has gone through many transformations as I left sites and registered with others.  The moniker has seen an increase in popularity over the past decade plus years.  Originally I used “Griffin.” This changed to “Griffon,” and then finally “Gryphon.”  Even this archaic spelling became so popular that it was no longer available whenever I sogryphon-4ught to register at a new site.  So I started using combinations.  “Gryphonscry” (Gryphon’s Cry) became a good one and I have used it for a long time.  I was popular at a relationship site which I will not plug here.

Click here to see what a Gryphon would be if there was such a real thing.

Occasionally in my posts I will sign off with the initials c.e.s.  This is the abbreviation I use for one of my pseudonyms.  If I know you well enough I will tell you what it stands for and the history of it.

Here is a list of the things I am.

  • White
  • Male
  • Virginian
  • American
  • Christian
  • 51 years old
  • Father
  • Divorced
  • Friend
  • Son
  • Writer (and a very good one)
  • Well educated (BA/MS)
  • Fortunate to be alive
  • Non-drinker
  • Social liberal
  • Fiscal Conservative
  • Americorps/VISTA

There are many other things including what I see as my intangible qualities (loving, compassionate, etc.), but I think the above list will hold us for now.

I will now close this entry with one of my favorite taglines which you will see occasionally if you read my blog.

And We Thank You For Your Support

  1. Interesting site. Thanks for adding me to your blogroll. I did have one request about the blogroll which can be found at your last comment on my site.

I see that you are new to the blog world, right? I am not an expert but I have wasted a ton of time reading up on how to get exposure for my sites so if you would like any advise at all just let me know.

Technically this comment should have been in the post where you found the image, but since we’re here . . . I don’t know who the artist is for the image about which I assume you are talking. I got it from the web via google images. I don’t know where else it might be.

Hey, I just wanted to thank you for the comments you left on my About page, I’ve only just seen what you said. It’s nice to know someone from the other side of the political spectrum appreciates what I write, as I don’t really want to just be preaching to the choir!

You can subscribe to people’s blogs. Hover your pointer over the ‘blog info’ thing in the top right of the screen when you’re on any blog and from click on ’subscribe to this blog’ on the drop down menu… the when you want to see if it’s been updated, hover over ‘my account’ in the top left and click on ‘blog surfer’. All the blogs you’ve subbed to while be listed, the most recently updated first.

Hope that helps… I’m gonna go check out some of your posts and find out where we disagree! :)

  3. Kennedy, thanks for dropping in. I’ll be adding your site to my blogroll “Word Press Blogs I Like.”

I can’t remember if I said it on your About page or not but I have deep feelings about only listening to those who agree with me on my views. I can’t learn anything that way, and if I am anything, it is open (at least I make a conscious effort.)

  4. Unknown, can’t think of anything off the top of my head right now, but I can use all the help I can get. Thanks for stopping back by.

Hiya, Gryphon—thanks for stopping by and adding me to your blogroll. You’re a good writer and I like what you’re doing here. I’ll add you to my blogroll as well. WordPress has been great for me. I started blogging right after the election, let it go for a bit, then started up again full force during my Christmas break from work. It’s been the most liberating thing I’ve done in quite some time. Thanks for your support and I’ll catch you down the road.

  9. Al, glad to have you and thanks for the connection.

Hey thanks for stopping by my blog. You’ve got some interesting articles, although I may not agree with some of your views. Will def come by to read often! :)

  11. No problem. I thank Dan at United Architects for guiding me there. Hey, if everyone agreed with everything I said or believed then the world would be pretty dull, know what I mean? And if I agreed with everything everyone else said or believed not only would it give me a tremendous headache but then I wouldn’t have anything to kvetch about. And I love to kvetch. :)

I’m glad you found some of my stuff interesting. You’re welcome anytime.

  12. I just sent you a helpful (I hope) email.

  13. It was. thanks
